Abstract. The article provides a historiographical analysis of documents from Perm State Archive of Modern History for the period of 1930-1940 covering activity of non-staff instructors of the local party committees. The author examines office documents with a view to identify scientific value and validity of the sources, their representativeness and potential for studying problems of the Soviet ruling class.
