PECULIARITIES OF TATAR BOOKS ILLUSTRATION IN THE 1900-1910S

Abstract. The article discusses peculiarities of Tatar books illustration by the example of Kazan editions. The author singles out the main types of illustrations and illustrated books, reveals prototypes in Russian and European book graphics, introduces new data for a modern researcher, substantiates a position that in the early XX century illustration became an important innovation in design of Tatar books, within which the first Tatar masters of fine art formed, determines the role of Tatar writers in development of the Tatar book illustration.
