WITKACY IN POLONIA’S ARTISTIC LIFE (BY THE MATERIALS OF PETROGRAD POLISH PRESS OF 1914-1918)

Abstract. The article describes findings discovered in Petrograd Polish press, which influence the existing conception of the most important but not investigated yet Russian period of creative work of Stanis?aw Ignacy Witkiewicz, the Polish painter, writer and dramatist. The new factological material discovers unknown details of Witkacy’s Russian period and shows that the painter’s relation with Petrograd Polonia was deeper than it has been previously believed, including the sphere of art. It broadens cardinally the number of factors that probably influenced formation of his artistic manner and individual style in Russia.
