"LETTERS OF A RUSSIAN TRAVELER" BY N. M. KARAMZIN AND "MENTAL MAP" OF THE RUSSIAN EDUCATED COMMUNITY OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. The article shows the role of "Letters of a Russian Traveler" by N. M. Karamzin in formation of "mental map" of the Russian educated community of the first half of the XIX century. The paper describes routes, perceptions, evaluations, connotations, memorial places of the European space proposed by N. M. Karamzin. The author analyzes the basic meaningful and evaluative components of the intellectual construct "Europe" produced by the Russian educated community of the first half of the XIX century.
