CATHOLIC PARISHES FORMATION IN THE DON REGION (THE XIX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the process of Catholic parishes formation within the Territory of the Don Cossacks. The author shows that with inflow of German colonists to the region there was increase in the churches number. The military command and local authorities did not interfere with the construction, and sometimes even helped. An attempt is made to establish location of the Catholic kostels within the territory of the krai and settlements; the amount of the funds spent on the construction, the names of the architects and the first priests.
