"NEW MORALITY" IN THE SOVIET CINEMATOGRAPH OF THE 1920S

Abstract. The article is devoted to the questions of "new morality" in the Soviet cinematograph of the 20s - the early 30-s. The author restores bit by bit the nuances of depicting this theme in the films of that time and represents the polemics of directors with proletarian ideas. The fact, that the "new morality" with regard to the family and the role of women in society had been declared by a cinema screen and rejected by it for less than ten years, is of great historical importance both for understanding the Soviet culture at early stages of its development, and for comprehending the role of cinematograph in the life of society.
