THE ICON WORK OF THE TRINITY LAVRA OF ST. SERGIUS AND THE KHOLUY ICON-PAINTERS IN THE LAST THIRD OF THE XVIII CENTURY

Abstract. The article studies the role and degree of participation of the Kholuy painters in the icon work of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. On the basis of archival data, details of their trade relations are highlighted: the price, the volume of supplies, the search for contractors, and certain behind-the-scenes struggle among the Kholuy citizens for the opportunity to sign the specified contract. On the other hand, the conditions for storing and selling icons of the Lavra itself are considered. The paper can be interesting both to specialists and to a wide range of readers interested in the history.
