Abstract. The article examines the methodology of research of the political used by Thomas Hobbes. To the methods widely known as "scientific" and "rhetorical", it is proposed to add a phenomenological one, aimed at studying the internal prescriptions of "true reason" and affects. The phenomenological method is used by Hobbes to bridge the gap between the physical and the psychic, establishing relations between physics and the moral and political philosophy of relations like the later "supervenience".
