Abstract. The article examines the institute of theological expertise, the effectiveness of which is possible due to the synthesis of basic notions of social philosophy, philosophy and methodology of science, religious studies with the involvement of the corpus of legal knowledge. The causes for the emergence of a new type of expertise, its involvement in the system of expert studies, methodological problems of the implementation of religious studies, as well as controversial issues of interdisciplinary nature are reflected.
