MASS CULTURE AND THE PROBLEM OF ITS INFLUENCE ON THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF RECIPIENTS

Abstract. The article deals with the problem of the influence of kitsch, middle and art levels of mass culture on the consciousness of its recipients. As a rule, mass culture is criticized for its low-level and adaptive (to mass consciousness) content. The author comes to the conclusion that imparting skills of critical thinking to recipients will allow them to penetrate deeper into the subject-meaningful content of middle and art levels of mass culture and see the meaning, reflecting a certain aspect of reality, beyond the simplicity of the narrative.
