ON CRIMEAN MURZAS’ 1867 MEMORANDUM ON REFORMING MUSLIM EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

Abstract. Analyzing the memorandum of murzas - the members of Special Commission of 1867 for propagation of Russian education among the Crimean Tatars - the author examines the view of noblemen integrated into the Russian cultural field on the mechanism for state language acquisition among the coreligionists of different social classes and the development of Muslim confessional educational system. Their conception is compared with the Jadids’ conception.
