CHORAL PERFORMANCE IN THE TATAR MUSICAL CULTURE OF THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. Relying on the identified sources the author examines the period of formation and development of the first choral groups in the Tatar musical culture of the beginning of the XX century, participation of shakirds’ choruses and women’s chorus in the literary and musical parties organized in Ufa and Kazan. The paper provides eyewitnesses’ memories and press reviews on the first performances of the Tatar choruses and their leaders, analyzes the repertoire of the chorus groups. On the basis of gramophone records the author for the first time examines entertaining music including choral performances of popular folk songs.
