FLORAL MOTIFS IN THE APPLIED ARTS OF CENTRAL ASIA AND TATARSTAN

Abstract. In the article the structural-semiotic study of floral motifs in Central Asia and Tatarstan and the determination of their occurrence in the ornamental images of these cultures are presented. The author singles out the functions of protection and the fertility cult, interprets the folk ideas about the immortal gardens of the Muslim paradise, the fantastic and the real floral forms surrounding the inhabitants of the oases, and compares the floral cults and ornaments of mountain and plain areas.
