Abstract. Aleksei Nikolaevich Borisov (1889-1937) is one of the leading Altai artists who contributed greatly to the formation and development of professional art and education in the Altai region and, in particular, in Barnaul in the 1920-1930s. Recently the remaining A. N. Borisov’s creative heritage (nearly 70 paintings), an integral part of Altai and Siberian art, is accumulated in the collection of the State Art Museum of the Altai territory. Relying on documentary sources and paintings from the collection of the museum the article examines the artist’s creative development and analyzes his graphical works.
