Abstract. In the article on the basis of the analysis of the local press, the organization, forms and methods of carrying out charitable activity and manifestations of charity by the population of Vyatka province during the First World War are examined. The newspapers of Vyatka province in each issue informed the readers about the amount of collected funds, about the events held to collect money and supply to help wounded soldiers and families of front-line soldiers. On the basis of the conducted research the author concludes that the press carried a certain propagandistic charge and contributed to the maintenance of patriotic moods in the society.
