Abstract. The article is devoted to the eternal question of philosophy about the existence of free will. Considering it from the position of the long-term theory and practice of psychology, the authors show that freedom of will is an illusion imposed on the individual’s consciousness by the society and religion. The authors of the article also draw attention to the fact that illusory freedom of will has already been proved experimentally, but because of the accepted paradigm of thinking in the society such a proof is not universally acceptable.
