METAPHOR OF MIRROR AND TRANSFORMATION OF FEMALE IMAGE IN FINE ART

Abstract. The article is devoted to interaction of the mirror as an item of feminine culture with the female image transformation in fine art. An attempt was made to trace representation of the mirror in the historical aspect in a variety of plots related to development of various statuses of the female image and its connection with the metaphor of the mirror. Scientific novelty consists in clarifying historical transformation of the female image, its adaptation to specific environment and time by particular painting material.
