SPECIFICS OF PRODUCING TANKS AND SELF-PROPELLED ARTILLERY PLATFORMS (SAP) IN CANADA IN THE YEARS OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR

Abstract. The article examines the poorly investigated in the domestic historiography aspect of Canada’s participation in the Second World War - the problem of organizing tank and SAP (self-propelled artillery platform) production in the dominion during the global conflict. Analyzing the different indicators of Canadian tank building industry the author discovers the basic developmental tendencies of this branch of military-industrial complex in the context of Canada’s interaction with the USA and Great Britain. The paper also identifies certain domestic and economical factors which influenced the functioning of the dominion’s tank building industry.
