Abstract. The article considers the main directions of critical analysis of the concept by the French philosopher Louis Althusser, who is considered as one of the most well-known interpreters of the creative work of Karl Max. Althusser touched upon various aspects of the Marxist philosophical system: from the issue of determination of historical process to the examination of epistemological gap in the creative work by Marx.
