THE EUROPEAN VIEW ON THE PROBLEM OF THE EXISTENCE OF ATMA IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF VAJRAYANA

Abstract. The article is devoted to the research of the philosophical interpretation of the basic concepts of the Buddhist abhidharma in the European neo-phenomenology. The author analyzes the different approaches to the study of the existence of the non-substantial and true self in the schools of Yogachara and Madhyamaka Prasa?gika. Particular attention is drawn to the comparative analysis of some provisions of the written and oral tradition of the Vajrayana and their reception in the neo-phenomenological paradigm of M. Eliade, O. Nydahl, and E. A. Torchinov.
