ON AMATEUR AND PROFESSIONAL ART (BY THE EXAMPLE OF LENINGRAD IZORAM ACTIVITY)

Abstract. The article considers the interaction of amateur and professional art and proposes the definition of the concept "amateur art" in the context of Leningrad IZORAM activity in the 1920-1930s. The author focuses on identifying the stylistic and artistic peculiarities of unprofessional, na?ve and amateur art as the specific criteria. Relying on the contemporaries’ memoirs and experts’ views the paper analyzes the Leningrad IZORAM creative work and concludes on amateur art conception.
