Abstract. The article reveals the content of the notion "information war", characterizes the types of information wars, the forms of their manifestation in the modern state and in geopolitical relations. The author considers the influence of information and propaganda on the various areas and strata of the modern society, the tools of aggressive information influence and the ways to counteract it.
