NUCLEAR WAR AND ARMED CONFLICT: PROBLEMS OF DIFFERENTIATION

Abstract. The article deals with the problem of the correlation of nuclear war with the criteria of a common armed conflict. Analyzing the conceptions of the prominent "war philosophers" of the XIX-XX centuries Carl van Clausewitz, Basel Liddell Hart and Martin van Creveld, the author substantiates the statement that a nuclear conflict with the application of strategic weapons can’t be considered as war, since it lacks the most important feature of the latter - the system of rules, which allow revealing a victor in the framework of political space.
