ORIGIN AND DEVELOPMENT OF MATERNITY AND CHILD WELFARE SERVICE IN DAGESTAN (THE 1920-1930S)

Abstract. The article attracting documentary sources and literature on the issue undertakes an attempt to reveal the basic stages of the formation and development of one of the most serious problems in the public health system - maternity and child welfare. Woman’s health, particularly during pregnancy, delivery and the period after it, as well as the protection of children during the first year of life were considered as the main activities in this area. The author highlights the key processes of the formation of maternity and child welfare service at different stages of the existence of the Russian state by the example of the Republic of Dagestan in the 1920-1930s.
