Abstract. The structure of Dargin musical folklore is examined considering social organization according to the rural community levels: generic (tukhum), rural neighbouring (dzhamaat) and inter-village (khureba). Relying on field expedition material from the personal archive the author explores the ritual genres of generic and annual cycles performing applied and ritual functions. In the ritual genre group the researcher identifies the forms of performance, traces the correlation of vocal and instrumental genres with gender and age groups.
