SPIRITUAL VALUES IN FAMILY UPBRINGING

Abstract. The article compares the values of the contemporary "consumer society" with traditional Orthodox values. The value guidelines alien for Russian mentality are criticized. Special attention is paid to family upbringing, which has traditionally been a key component of children’s upbringing. The examples of children’s upbringing on the basis of familiarization with Orthodox culture are given. The author suggests building up the system of upbringing using previous historical experience on the basis of Orthodox morality.
