STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF EDUCATION AT AMERICAN SCHOOLS AT THE TURN OF THE XIX-XX CENTURIES

Abstract. The article examines tendencies in the structure and content of education at the USA schools at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. The authors identify the basic education stages in the USA of this period, provide the analysis of the first unified curriculum of 1893. The paper concludes that at the end of the XIX century there was continuity of education stages in the structure of education, and the content was characterized by practical orientation. The researchers emphasize the positive role of thematic lessons.
