FROM THE HISTORY OF THE URBAN TATARS’ MUSICAL CULTURE OF THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY: MARIAM ISKANDEROVA

Abstract. The scientific originality of the paper involves studying the performance of a striking representative of the Tatar urban musical culture of the beginning of the XX century, the first Tatar cabaret singer Mariam Iskanderova. On the basis of the preserved gramophone records the author analyzes the singer’s concert repertoire representing the variety of light music genres among the urban Tatars, examines M. Iskanderova’s touring activities, provides the contemporaries’ memories and reviews in the Tatar press. For the first time the singer’s discography is under analysis.
