Abstract. The article examines the phenomenon of re-evaluating life in the spirit of festivity, which is actualized as a social problem and cultural aspect of modern worldview. The author identifies the complicated correlations of the forms to conduct a holiday and taste, explores solitary leisure as a festal event discovering its cultural value under the conditions of the city.
