DAGESTAN’S TRADITIONAL ART HANDICRAFTS AND "FORBIDDEN HANDICRAFTS" PRACTICE

Abstract. The article discovers the history of imposing restrictions and prohibitions on private entrepreneurship and trade in the sphere of traditional art handicrafts. The conception "forbidden handicrafts" became common for Soviet economy and culture. The strict regulation of handicraft industry had started already from the beginning of the 1930s. Many of the prohibitions (the private production of goods from nonferrous and precious metals) were preserved till the beginning of the post-Soviet period. The theme is explored in such an aspect for the first time.
