FEDERALISM AS A NATIONAL IDEA OF RUSSIA: IN SEARCH OF UNIVERSUM

Abstract. In the article the author reveals the federative essence of the ideological unity of Russia conditioned by the whole course of the historical development of statehood, within which the synthesis of imperial, Soviet and national principles is made. The attempts to compare the notions "federalism" and "nation-state" in order to formulate the integration national idea of Russia that has a specific social and universal purpose are made. Special attention is paid to the comparative and critical analysis of national ideas in the history of Russia, which allows generalizing the scientific material.
