INFLATION OF INNOVATIONS: IMPORTANCE OF HISTORICAL-PHILOSOPHICAL AND LINGUISTIC STUDIES

Abstract. The article aims to restore the meaning of the word "innovation" and to identify its semantic relations with other morphologically related words. By the example of the "Essays" by the British thinker F. Bacon the author shows the importance of historical-philosophical study. Using the concrete-historical approach and the method of contextual analysis the paper analyzes the Latin version of F. Bacon’s work and identifies the context of the word usage. Relying on word usage tradition the author argues that the words "novation" and "novelty" correlate with the mentioned word.
