ACHIEVEMENTS OF BIOMEDICINE IN ASSESSMENT OF CHRISTIAN CONFESSIONS

Abstract. The article deals with the approaches of the main Christian confessions to the ambiguous achievements of modern biomedicine and their assessment basing on the analysis of the extensive list of literature including official church documents. The author identifies common for Protestantism, Catholicism and Orthodoxy viewpoints and shows the key differences between them conditioned by philosophical and historical factors. The existence of divergences between mass public morality and the moral precepts of Christianity is stated.
