Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of Pancake Week holiday as demonstration of human cult activity that allows showing name and number as principles of various ontologies (traditions of name and traditions of number). The author studies the manifestations of the implications of name and number in Pancake Week rites basing on the idea by P. A. Florensky about the correlation of the activities of modern human society, namely the correlation between three original sides - theoretical, practical and liturgical ones (world outlook, economy and cult). The paper deals with the ontological prerequisites of cult. The author relies on the methodology of the philosophy of praising the name, which is presented in the works of P. A. Florensky and A. F. Losev.
