GREAT BRITAIN TANK FORCES OF THE 1920-1930S: WAY DOWN OR VICTIM OF COMPROMISE?

Abstract. On the basis of the new for the Russian historiography materials of the British National Archive, the records of the British Parliament meetings and a wide range of literature the author analyzes the practical experience of tank forces development in Great Britain of the 1920-1930s. The paper examines the attitude of the English political and military leadership of that time to the role of the tank in the army, analyzes the real state of the British tank forces of the inter-war period and the backgrounds for their formation.
