Abstract. The article examines the problems associated with the history of the origin and development of bell-ringing art in Russia. The author aims to discover the historically established relation between the Orthodox basics and the esthetic meaning of bell-ringing art. The relevance of the subject is conditioned by the revival of bell-ringing in modern Russia, growing interest for it, the tendency to master the art of bell casting and the bell-ringer’s skills.
