SOCIAL PRACTICES OF REVIVING TRADITIONAL FESTIVALS (BY THE EXAMPLE OF INDIGENOUS SMALL PEOPLES OF THE ALTAI REPUBLIC)

Abstract. The article presents the results of a study of social practices of reviving traditional festivals of indigenous small peoples of the Altai Republic. The author traces how after a long period of neglect restoration of the holidays Dylgayak and Tyuryuk Bairam occurred, how boundaries of these holidays expanded (from the family level to the festival of regional and national importance), what their modern ritual-ceremonial and entertainment-game content is. It is noted that the festive calendar of indigenous small peoples of the Republic gained the International Day of Indigenous Peoples of the World.
