PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION AS A SOCIOCULTURAL PHENOMENON AND FIELD OF KNOWLEDGE

Abstract. The article is devoted to a topical problem - emergence of a new disciplinary field of the XX century - philosophy of education. Philosophy of education is considered as a sociocultural phenomenon and as a field of knowledge having education in all its aspects as a subject. Attention is drawn to difference in interpreting the word "education" in English-language and German-language traditions, and it determined various understanding of disciplinary destination of philosophy of education. The author suggests a third approach - an integrative one - based on interdisciplinary and integrated study of education.
