Abstract. The work is dedicated to art criticism analysis of the artist-avant-gardist A. P. Frizen’s creativity, whose works reflect trends of Russian and West-European art. The article discusses the multi-aspect direction "avant-garde" as a key element influencing development of modern art. The authors consider the genre of cityscape represented by a variety of paintings in the artist’s creativity in the system of Altai painting.
