FOLK STORIES BY L. N. TOLSTOY AS REFLECTION OF THE WRITER’S MORAL VIEWS

Abstract. Most of the studies devoted to the analysis of "folk stories" by Leo Tolstoy affect their genre specificity, so the purpose of the article is to examine their moral component. Special attention is paid to the fact that the thinker sought to teach people to live righteous life and try to follow Christian laws. The author substantiates the idea that folk tales are valuable as reflection of the thinker’s important ideas about faith in a human being, his/her ability to forgive others’ mistakes and not to resist evil.
