ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF TSUGOLSKY DATSAN IN THE ASPECT OF THE BURYATS’ SPIRITUAL AND RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS

Abstract. The article describes historical and cultural importance of one of the largest Buddhist monasteries of Eastern Siberia - Tsugolsky datsan - of the Trans-Baikal Territory. Along with other sources the author uses field material that was gathered in the autonomous region Inner Mongolia of the People’s Republic of China. The famous religious object is examined in comparison with another Buddhist temple, representation of ethnic cultural memory. The paper identifies its importance from the viewpoint of spiritual and moral values of the nation.
