Abstract. The article deals with a problem not having a unique solution in the theory of anthropogenesis - emergence of public labour at a certain stage of instinctive labour development. The authors analyze transitive conditions of hominids from the standpoint of the system approach. The notion of instinctive labour allows explaining emergence of labor as purposive activity in correlation with morphological features of hominids. Shift to public work was a gradual, evolutionary process, which prerequisite was the Australopithecus’s activity.
