SIGNIFICANCE OF LEGAL CONSCIOUSNESS AS A FACTOR OF SOCIAL PROGRESS IN SOCIAL-PHILOSOPHICAL THEORIES OF THE WESTERNERS

Abstract. The article deals with the Westerners’ ideas about the nature and significance of legal consciousness as a source of law and stimulus of social and legal changes in the society. The author emphasizes relevance of ideas developed by the Westerners about individual liberties, civic engagement, complementarity of moral and legal values, as well as significance of West-European legal ideas, principles and values ??in the contemporary conditions of forming legal state and civil society in Russia.
