SOVIET FRONTIER TROOPS’ PARTICIPATION IN DEFEAT OF MILITARIST JAPAN

Abstract. The article reveals the problem of the Far Eastern frontier troops’ participation in the war against militarist Japan in August 1945. Its aim is to study the experience of the frontier troops’ combat actions as a part of offensive operations of the front-line army. Published and unpublished materials are used in this paper, and they are analyzed in the light of the current scientific data. The author pays particular attention to the features of the tactics of the attack detachments’ actions and the role of the frontier units in providing the attack of the Far Eastern troops as a part of the 1st and the 2nd Far Eastern Fronts and the Trans-Baikal Front.
