IN SEARCH OF WAY OUT: THE LAST ANGLICAN SERMONS OF J. H. NEWMAN

Abstract. The article considers the following issue: what reflection the process of movement towards recognition of the Roman Catholic Church as a "true" one had in sermons of the prominent Christian thinker J. H. Newman that he read in Anglican churches in 1841-1843. The conclusion is that Newman initially was trying to convince himself and his followers of the need to remain within Anglicanism, but later, relying on parallels between Judaism and Christianity, he came to an idea of ??dogmatic development and to the conclusion about the "truth" of Roman Catholicism.
