DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORCHESTRA PIANO PHENOMENON IN WEST EUROPEAN MUSIC OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. The article analyzes the formation of the "orchestra piano" phenomenon and its further development in the XIX century by the example of compositions by West European composers - H. Berlioz, N. W. Gade, V. d’Indy, C. Debussy. The paper considers the means of expressiveness used by the composers, correlation of the piano with other instruments, its functions in the orchestra structure and the role of the orchestra piano when creating a comprehensive figurative-artistic picture. Moreover, the author provides a comparative analysis of West European compositions that were created in the XIX century and identifies the general developmental principles of this phenomenon.
