Abstract. The article examines agrarian bills that were passed by Julius Caesar in the period of his first consulate, analyzes the circumstances of their adoption and explores to what extent the adoption of these bills was motivated by the law proposed by tribunus plebis Publius Vatinius. According to the author, the laws on proconsular provinces were a result of Caesar’s increasing influence. The key problem for discussion is a possible date of this law adoption.
