MODERN MEDIA CONSUMPTION: MODIFICATIONS OF ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS

Abstract. The article considers the significance of media consumption in the life of the man and the society. The involvement of the individual / groups in the process of the selection and mastering media platforms and content is examined. The modification of the essential characteristics of interactions in media space: structure, duration, intensity, selectivity, is analyzed. The transformation of the media preferences of the contemporaries over the last quarter of the century is argued. The forecasts of media consumption further development are given on the basis of assessing the tendencies of its changes at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries.
