HAMARTIOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION OF HENOTHEISM PHENOMENON IN HELMUT RICHARD NIEBUHR’S CREATIVE WORK

Abstract. The article focuses on hamartiological interpretation of the henotheism phenomenon in H. R. Niebuhr’s creative work. Following the Orthodox Protestantism tradition, H. R. Niebuhr considers the secular forms of culture as a sin and idolatry. If the God is the only universal source of categorical values then a human being living outside positive relations with Him inevitably begins to deify ultimate objects and institutions, which can be both of religious and secular nature.
