MURDER OF SPOUSE IN PEASANT FAMILY (THE END OF THE XIX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY)

Abstract. In the article the author studies the problem of violence in the peasant family, and carries out the analysis of the reasons of the murders of spouses that were committed in the Russian village of the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century. The motives for the murders and the factors, which provoked their commission, are ascertained. The majority of the crimes arose because of domestic violence. The murders of wives in the peasant family were usually a result of physical violence during spouses’ quarrels and were not intentional. On the contrary, the murders of husbands by their wives were prepared in advance.
